Rihanna totally changed the maternity style game in just a few months. From see-through dresses to long spandex bodysuits; embellished bras, and more; the 34-year-old set out to prove that pregnancy looks don’t have to mean leggings and a tent-style tunic. Far from it, in fact.
While the star outdoes herself every time she steps out of the house, Rihanna may have just reached her style peak – on the cover of Vogue Magazinefrom the May 2022 issue, no less. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Rihanna stands in the entrance of a suite at the Ritz hotel in Paris, wearing a strapless lace bodysuit and matching opera gloves by Alaïa. The look – which was designed by Alex Harrington and Jahleel Weaver – also features lucite, stilettos and simple hoop earrings.
Within the pages of the magazine, Rihanna discusses her personal approach to pregnancy style.
“When I found out I was pregnant, I said to myself: I’m not going to go shopping in the maternity aisle. I’m sorry, it’s too much fun to dress up I’m not going to let that part go away because my body is changing,” she shared.
Rihanna also acknowledged the intentionally disruptive outfits she wore, admitting the goal is to normalize pregnant women who dress however they please.
“I hope we were able to redefine what is considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women,” she said. vogue. “My body is doing amazing things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of it. This time should be celebratory. Because why should you hide your pregnancy?” Check out the full stream here.
