You’ve probably heard Julia Fox’s name floating around in recent weeks. The 31-year-old model is dating Kanye West, and all eyes are on the duo as they attend Haute Couture Fashion Week together in Paris. As you may already know, yesterday was a big day for the new couple. First, they made their red carpet debut coordinating denim outfits a la Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Next, the actress’ dark winged eyeliner made headlines, not just because it was ultra-dramatic, but because fans thought West was responsible for the editorial glamour.
Contrary to confusion, Fox’s must-have eyeliner was brought to life by a famous makeup artist Daniel Kolaric using Pat McGrath Laboratories products exclusively. The look, which the brand has dubbed “graphic winged glamour”, was specially dreamed up by McGrath (affectionately dubbed “Mother” by devoted fans) for the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2022 show, in which the model and West sat front-line. The brand shared all the details on how to recreate Fox’s eye makeup — Kolaric used the Xtreme Black shade from the brand’s Mothership I: Subliminal Palette, paired with Precision Liquid Eyeliner. He also used a third top secret product (“#Stay tuned!”) which has yet to be released but may be coming soon.
West didn’t play a role in Fox’s glam Schiaparelli, but he may have been involved in one of the (many) other over-the-top eyeliner styles she’s recently debuted. After all, she took to her Instagram Story yesterday to call the Yeezy founder her “favorite makeup artist.” So clearly he had some involvement in her makeup lately.
On Sunday night (the day before Schiaparelli’s show), Fox was photographed wearing a red dress similar to the one she wears in the blurry photo of West doing her makeup. Maybe it was West’s creation? Note that the black pigment has a different shape than the eyeliner she debuted at the Schiaparelli show. This one protrudes above her forehead and has a less defined shape than the Kolaric barred look. Could this be West’s first makeup artist?
One thing is certain: Fox is boldly sporting over-the-top black eye makeup despite what internet critics have to say. And clearly, it’s in tune with the times since it’s hitting the haute couture catwalks. Inspired to try? Shop the exact Pat McGrath essentials used to create Fox’s eye makeup below. And don’t forget to pay close attention to the brand’s social media accounts to be the first to know when this not-yet-released product officially launches.
